IMPF: Music Photography all the way
from Francis Wolff, Gerald Cyrus and Elliot
Landy to Paul Bergen and The Rosenberg Trio
Schiedam -
The first edition of the International Music Photography Festival (IMPF) is about to start. For over three weeks, from Saturday,
July 4 till Tuesday, July 28, the center of Schiedam (connected to Rotterdam) will be heaven for Music Photography lovers.
Highlights will be the Francis Wolff Blue Note photographs, Elliott Landy´s special Bob Dylan exhibition,
The festival will be organized by the Music Inspired Art Foundation, an initiative
by Wim van Zon, gallery owner and organizer of the North Sea Jazz Festival art show since 2005. The festival presents several
exhibitions with jazz, rock, blues, world and classical music photography. It is the ambition of the foundation to build
an internationally appealing photo festival in the next few years.
The Schiedam
Municipal Museum, the Gin Museum and eight galleries are involved in the festival. For visitors the festival has an extra
charm thanks to the cooperation of over a hundred shop owners and private house owners that show photographs in their windows,
thus creating a photo trail in the 18th century city center.
In
this first edition a few big names in photography will be present or prsented. Special guest will be Gerald Cyrus (USA)
with his Stormy Monday exhibition of photographs taken in small Harlen jazz clubs. The Bob Dylan, the Woodstock Years
exhibition of Elliott Landy (USA) contains special photos taken from 1968 till 1970 at Bob Dylan´s ranch in Woodstock,
NY. Because of the Blue Note label´s 70th birthday a selection of Francis Wolff photos will beo n display in the S-Town
gallery. The Gin museum will host a Booz ´n Blues exhibition with Mississippi juke joint photos by Brandy Kayzakian
Rowe and Panny Mayfield.
Other international photographers presented include Gered
Mankowitz, Bill Wyman and Mick Rock.

van Breukelen with his Silver Camera winning series Happy Man – the life of Benjamin Herman. Joost Leijen
